NPP condemns attack on Health Minister; wants District Police Commander transferred

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ajumako Enyan Essiam constituency in the Central Region, has condemned last week’s attack on Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang by some supporters of NDC during the commissioning of a health facility at Sunkwa in the area.

The NPP accused the Member of Parliament (MP) of the area Cassiel Ato Forson of masterminding the attack.

A statement issued by the party’s communication team indicated that supporters of NDC in the constituency disrupted a town hall meeting they had a day before the incident and later held a secret meeting to cause confusion during the commission of the health facility.

“On Tuesday, NDC chaotically disrupted our town hall meeting with the information ministry in Ajumako Bisease. On Wednesday evening, One Eric in Bisease with a Megaphone ordered and encouraged the people of NDC to display the same behaviour during the commissioning of Sunkwa and Bisease polyclinics”

“An alleged meeting between the MP and NDC members discloses a plan by the opposition party to taint and mall the commissioning program. Again, we are told by our checks that, the NDC boys were supplied with doses of TRAMADOL to energize them carry out such act,” the statement said.

PRESS RELEASE BY NPP COMMUNICATIONS TEAM OF AJUMAKO ENYAN ESSIAM AGAINST THE MALICIOUS ACT BY NDC DURING THE COMMISSIONING OF SUNKWA POLYCLINIC.

Without mincing words, we the communication team members of Ajumako Enyan Esiam Constituency, NPP  condemn the display of unpatriotic and uncivilized behaviour exhibited by the NDC supporters and sympathizers during the commissioning of Sunkwa polyclinic. Without any provocation, the NDC supporters started pelting stones at the minister and his entourage which needed to be condemned by all meaning Ghanaians.

On Tuesday, NDC chaotically disrupted our town hall meeting with the information ministry in Ajumako Bisease. On Wednesday evening, One Eric in Disease with a Megaphone ordered and encouraged the people of NDC to display the same behaviour during the commissioning of Sunkwa and Bisease polyclinics.

An alleged meeting between the MP and NDC members discloses a plan by the opposition party to taint and mall the commissioning program. Again, we are told by our checks that, the NDC boys were supplied with doses of  TRAMADOL to energise them carry out such activities.

The NDC had their backing from the MP, Hon Atto Forson. After the 2016 elections and during his thank you tour across the constituency, he incited the people against the ruling NPP. He told them he(Ato Forson the MP for the constituency) had paid for all the ongoing projects(roads, polyclinic and CHPS compounds), and that the NPP will come to complete and commission them.

The District Police commander( Paul Akunde) and his team feigned blindness at the conspicuous misconduct of the NDC boys. No arrest has been affected yet.

By this release, we call  on the IGP to immediately transfer the District police commander, Paul Akunde, because he has lost track of his job description and he is too permeable to accept influence from the opposition MP, .

We don’t trust him and we can’t entrust him with our safety.

A competent team of police officers should be deployed to investigate the incidence and those found guilty prosecuted.

Signed

Abraham Ayesu

Constituency Communication Officer

Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency
